Everyone is alert of the rising number of people that now have the internet and also the amount of time we are now spending online is rising. With the new development collection of superfast broadband being announced by some internet service providers we will have even more ability and connectivity for the net. Latest results show that the UK figures for internet usage has grown by 65% from April 2007 to April 2010. These statistics were just brought out by UKOM, the UK Online Measurement Organisation who have been gathering statistics for the government review. Through Internet Business Opportunities and ISPs like Sky, BT, Virgin etc we are now spending a whole of 884 million hours online contrasted to 536 million hours in 2007.
The most considerable alteration has to be where we are spending our time, the online activities that we now use have noticebly altered from three years ago. The unsurprising increase in popularity of social network sites such as Facebook and Twitter have radically altered our motivation on where we spend our time online. In 2007 this field only accounted for about 9% of the total number of hours we spend online this has jumped to 23%. Many Internet Business Opportunities have been grown through the use of social of networking and blogging so the growth is also in the business sector.
Following social networking, the next share of the hours belongs to emailing and online gaming, which both set at 7% of our time. Many organisations have established an Internet Marketing Opportunity over the past 3 years which adds to the use of our emails, there isn’t a day goes by without some site sending me an email to promote a product or service.
The big loser over the past three years has been instant messaging, the days of having a messenger chat service logged in all day to keep contact with your friends has gone because of the social networking sites having this service within their software. This has experienced a drop from 14% to 5% in three years so it is definitely on the decline. Maybe another Internet Business Opportunity will come up that will revitalize this area as new products are introduced.
The amount of email usage has stayed around the same mark over the past three years somewhat surprisingly as the use of Facebook to connect with people has risen. There are still many orgainisations that account for this usage and an Internet Business Opportunity is only an email away when it comes to an Internet Marketing Opportunity.
The figures also shows that the use of internet to look at adult material has fallen to only 2.7% behind the usage of looking at news websites. This figure can be taken literally but I imagine that when these people were tested how many of them acknowledged to watching adult material over current news articles? It does get free of the idea that the only reason that people go online is to view adult websites.
These results will be unexpected for a few but with all the internet selections that are currently available it will be interesting to see if the social networking part will grow over the next few years or will there me a new means to rival the social aspect.
