Implement Change: What Occurs When Preparedness Is Not Well Executed in Implementing Change


Corporations and the army share a number of features. Both incline to fairly exactly organized with categorical procedures and qualifications needed for advancement. Both tend to employ large numbers of folks, which requires important administration. Most importantly, corporations and the military both have abasic need for a preparedness to implement change. Companies should be predicting potential changes in areas which affect them at once, such as oil prices or extra laws.

What is engaging is that the army, for all of the flack it takes for excessive bureaucracy, has a tendency to practice preparedness to a bigger degree. It is standard practice for the army to run exercises which mimic a range of circumstances, from best to worst case scenarios. Corporations, on the other hand, have a tendency to eschew the practicalities of how to implement change until such changes are thrust upon them. This may reveal why examples where companies are forced to implement change create so much internal culture shock.

History has shown the unprepared often suffer for their absence of preparedness. The debate can be made that this lack stems in part from the bent to fixate on the current time Problems of running a business. However, such a fixation on running the business unavoidably ends in a detriment of preparedness and a reduced ability to execute change. In a world where change is happening ever faster and more often, the facility to implement change effectively is going to ascertain which corporations thrive and which ones will fail.
